IT Security Consultant (Retired)
Introduction
This collection of pages conveys a little of my education and professional career, as well as my ongoing vocational activity (volunteering).
Career
The career page summarises my journey from schooling through to retirement, it’s organised into the following sections:
- Distant Past
- Recent Past
- Present and Future
Companies I Worked For
On a trip down nostalgia lane, I put together a list of most of the organisations who I’ve worked for (or at) during my career.
Videos
While most of my IT career was focussed on solution delivery, I also gave technical training and created videos of technical solutions for use by customers as ‘how to’ guides.
In addition, I’ve included numerous video bits and pieces in which I’ve participated.
Documentation
The principal outcome from most of my solution delivery engagements was the authoring of documents. I’ve published some customer-based PKI solution documentation, as well as legacy documents from the earlier part of my career when I was an IT generalist.
IT Security Skills
Rather than publish a curriculum vitae / resume, I thought it more pragmatic to chronicle what I considered to be my principal IT security skills.
Passwords
During the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020 / 2021, lock-downs meant that I was unable to directly engage with people in my volunteer tech buddy roles.
To facilitate the ongoing support of folk and keep myself purposeful, I created numerous videos and documented suggested approaches with the intent of demonstrating pragmatic password management approaches.
Public Key Infrastructure
My intent here was to have something to look back on after retiring, enabling me to give a steer when asked what I used to do at work?
I undertook an exercise to publish a web page which I could describe as a rough guide to PKI, before the lack of use in professional engagements dissipated my knowledge.
